On the morning of April 20, the Puppet Manchu Palace Museum held a press conference on the project of protection and renovation of the Tongde Palace in the Wanxi Building of the Puppet Manchu Palace, which won the honor of the National Project for the Protection of Excellent Monuments and Sites. President Wang Zhiqiang talks about the process of protection and repair
Wang Zhiqiang, President of the Puppet Manchu Palace Museum, introduced to the guests the relevant information on the project renovation and award-winning process. The Zhexi Tower and Tongde Palace in the Palace Museum of Puppet Manchu are the earliest and largest buildings built in the Palace complex of Puppet Manchu. The two buildings have experienced many vicissitudes of history and witnessed numerous important historical events, which have important historical, cultural and socio-economic values. The renovation team strictly adheres to the 16-character policy of "protection first, rescue first, rational utilization and management" to ensure the structural safety and use requirements of the renovated building itself, while respecting the traditional style of the building, protecting the diversity of architectural culture, and truly realizing "the old as the old".

President Wang Zhiqiang also told the participants about the original intention and goal of the renovation project: first, to make a sample project in the province to provide reference for the maintenance and renovation of similar projects in the future; second, to make excellent projects; third, to plan to establish a research center of modern architecture in Northeast China. The museum should not only protect and repair the cultural relics in the museum, but also have the responsibility to do a good research on the buildings of the same period. The museum will play the role of organizer to organize and study the modern architectural history of Northeast China, organizer of repair technology, and carry out research-based renovation to the end. Next, we should strive to build a research center of modern architecture in Northeast China, and better communicate and learn with colleagues in the industry.
2018 National Excellent Site Protection Project
It has been seven years since the selection of national excellent heritage protection projects was developed. It is the highest honor for the selection of the industry of heritage conservation engineering in China. Compared with the previous selection, this selection is more stringent.
