From Emperor to Citizen

“From Emperor to Citizen: The Life of Puyi”is the large-scale chronicle exhibition of historical figure. According to the five stages of Puyi's life, the exhibition is divided into five parts: The last emperor, Tianjin resident, Puppet emperor, Special war criminal and Ordinary citizen.

The exhibition hall covers an area of 680 square meters and the exhibition line is 240 meters long. There are 421 historical photos and more than 260 cultural relics on display.

The exhibition truly shows Puyi's legendary experience from the last emperor of Qing Dynasty, puppet emperor of the Manchurian regime and war criminal to being transformed into a citizen of New China and a period of historical changes and the truth that the times create people with a small view and a big story.

It criticizes the decay and decline of the feudal system and profoundly exposes the crime of Japanese invaders manipulating the puppet regime of Manchukuo headed by Puyi and carrying out bloody colonial rule over the people in Northeast China. It also praises the Communist Party of China(CPC)'s broad-minded and humanitarian policy. This exhibition is the only comprehensive and objective exhibition reflecting Puyi's life in China, and has received millions of Chinese and foreign audiences since its launch.

In 2005, the exhibition won the Top Ten Exhibition Awards in the 6th National Exhibition.
